A Night at the Hog Show

In July, I traveled down to my hometown of Fairbury, Neb., to help out with the Jefferson County Fair pig show.  The pig show is very special to me as I have showed pigs at this county fair for 15 years since I was five.  It all began with me showing in the open class pig show and it eventually led to the 4-H and FFA swine shows.  

However, I decided last year was the last time I would show pigs at the Jefferson County Fair, but I still wanted to contribute in some way to this special show so I figured I would help at the swine show.  It was a good way for me to give back to the pig show as it has provided me with many opportunities and fond memories over the past 15 years of my life.

13th Annual Capital City Ribfest 2009

It wouldn’t be summertime in Lincoln without the return of Ribfest, the ultimate summer BBQ festival! This four day, summer street festival features award-winning BBQ and music!  Ribfest is the largest, most popular summer event in downtown Lincoln, Neb. and has become a tradition for thousands of Nebraskans since it began in 1996.

Award-winning BBQ chefs and pit bosses from around the country gather to showcase their talents and serve excellent barbeque to Nebraskans.  BBQ fans can enjoy Southern, Texas Style, Australian, Jamaican and Soutwestern BBQ without leaving Nebraska! Even if you’re not from Nebraska you’ll be sure to find something you like at our Ribfest!

Capital City Ribfest is held in downtown Lincoln, Neb., on 14th and N Street from August 13-16, 2009.  Thursday, Friday and Saturday the festival runs from 11am to midnight and on Sunday it starts at 11am and ends at 3pm.

So we hope to see all of you there during this lip smackin’ good time!
